    Behance Network iOS Application

Behance is the leading online platform for creative professionals, which currently serves more than 6 million visitors per month across Behance.net and their "Served Sites". Portfolios are showcased in galleries on sites that include LinkedIn, MTV, and the AIGA. The company also holds an annual conference in NYC, The 99%, which has attracted speakers such as Jack Dorsey and Seth Godin.

Behance approached Thumb Labs with a plan to extend their existing network to the iOS platform, through a JSON API that they had developed. Working hand-in-hand with the creative teams at Behance over several months, the core feature set of the website was adapted to the small screen. Care was taken to both preserve the network's unique experience, and to re-envision its many components in light of the new mobile context.

The app includes access to all user galleries with search and filtering capabilities, profiles, relationships to other users, collections, statistics, commenting, 3rd-party social integrations with Facebook and Twitter, and much much more. Users are able to download all of their own galleries to their mobile "Portfolio", which will be available to them even when they are without internet access.

At Thumb Labs, it was incredibly exciting to bring this app to the talented users of the Behance Network.

    Travveling for Dribbble iOS Application

Travveling is a mobile app for Dribbble that keeps you connected with the digital design community through shots of their latest work. By the time that Dribbble was first opened up to third-party developers with the announcement of their API, we at Thumb Labs were already hooked on the Dribbble experience. So it wasn’t long before we had invested ourselves in developing a mobile app that we could take with us on the road.

It started with a basic shot browser that pulled in artwork from all of the site’s existing categories, and before long Travveling was displaying comments left on designs, allowing users to save shots to their device's photo library, and providing the ability to send shots to Twitter, Facebook, Google Reader, Instapaper, Pinboard, Read it Later, Tumblr, Email, and the Clipboard.

The app was our second direct-to-consumer release in the app store, and was well received by many prominent members of the Dribbble user base. It was also designated as “New and Noteworthy” by Apple shortly after its launch. We continue to develop and extend Travveling as Dribbble opens up more of its features to their API, and look forward to our continuing relationship with the community.

    Insite Monitoring System Web Application

Power Service Concepts (PSC) builds and maintains battery systems that power mission-critical hardware in data-centers across the country. Insite Monitoring System began with the ambitious goal of building a web application for remotely monitoring these systems, and PSC approached Thumb Labs to conceptualize, design, and develop the solution. Through a series of discovery sessions, Thumb Labs worked with PSC staff and engineers to formulate the now patent-pending technology that powers the site.

Following the architectural design of the product, Thumb Labs created a new brand for the product, and the visual designs for the detailed interface. President and Founder John DeAngelo, upon receiving the first logo designs:

"It’s stunning. It has everything I would want. It’s simple, it’s now, shades and not jump in your face theatrics…Am I being too dramatic or do you see that? Could they possibly be that in tune with what we are trying to sell here?"

Thumb Labs went on to build the product with a technology stack that included the Zend Framework, MySQL, jQuery, and HTML5. With its recent launch, IMS has already garnered attention from several top-tier clients in the industry.

    My Newz

    MyNewz (In Development) Web Application

MyNewz is a startup in the social-networking space, designed around the idea that sharing what’s new in your life can be fun and creative. Users are empowered with tools to announce their experiences in the form of stylized Magazine Covers, Newspaper Articles, or Movie Posters.

Founded by Richard Diaz, the site allows users to create their own profiles, comment on each other’s postings, and integrates with Facebook and Twitter to spread the word across existing networks.

Thumb Labs design for MyNewz targets creates a playful and entertaining environment that feels inviting to all members of its diverse audience. Sample news articles set the bar for users, and the iconography is used to categorize postings, and add subtle hints throughout the site.

What really makes MyNewz unique though, are the design capabilities that it puts in the hands of its members. Through a custom WYSIWYG editor built by Thumb Labs, the site allows members to share their own creations. The possibilities are enhanced by the vast library of available background patterns, clip art, and web fonts.

Privacy settings for published “newz” give users fine-grained control over who sees their content, and a full-featured Administration System allow MyNewz staff the ability to moderate the community.

MyNewz is shaping up to be a true one-of-a-kind experience. Early testers are enthusiastically awaiting its launch, which is scheduled for later this year.

    Holymolies

    Holymolies iOS Application

Holymolies is a daily Bible verse application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Each day, an inspiring verse selected by the founding team is shared with the community, who reflect on its meaning and share their thoughts and feelings with other “Holymolies”.

The driving force behind the Holymolies concept, as envisioned by Dann Petty, is the community. Users become a “Holymoly” on their first interaction with the app, by taking their picture with the iPhone’s camera and having a halo affixed to the top of their avatar. Each day, a lively group of users share their encouragement with each other through in-app comments that slide behind the Bible verse. Users can also tap the “Amen!” button if they like the passage, or share it with their friends on other networks through email, tweets, and Facebook posts.

In addition to full responsibility for the creation of the iPhone app, Thumb Labs was also tasked with building its back-end service, including a RESTful web service, and a portal for administrators to manage the app’s content. Bible verses can be scheduled to show up in advance of a particular day, and users and their comments can be moderated as needed.
